The honest read
Readbetter is the closest competitor to the part of RoutineInk that handles newsletters, and it is a real business: 5,100+ active users by their own count, at $59.88–$83.88 a year. Their acquisition strategy is worth respecting — a landing page per publication ("Read Stratechery on Kindle") is programmatic SEO done well, and it is why they show up when you search for a specific newsletter.
They are focused where we are broad. Newsletters are the whole product for them; for us they are one of four ways in, alongside the extension, feeds and document uploads. Focus is a real advantage and you should weigh it.
Where we differ structurally is the failure path. When Amazon refuses a document, we read the refusal notice and tell you the exact thing to fix; their answer is a status column.
Where Readbetter is better
Written first, and on purpose. If one of these is the thing you care about, take them.
